The Rise And Fall of The Mongol King

from Like A Velvet Glove Cast In Iron by The Akashic Record

/

about

Genghis Khan was the founder and emperor of the Mongol Empire. He was known for being a tyrant and a warlord. He was not, however, the first or the last of his type. There have been many more like him throughout history and across the globe, but this is circular. They rise, and they fall, and the cycle starts again.

lyrics

their lifeless image
like their necks upon the ropes;
thousands of strings
form to break their hopes

I fear my friends have reached the end

I'm shaking from the wind
My bones, freezing stones
I don't want to give it up just yet

I fear my friends have reached the end
and the war begins

I hate these sands; these hills that bend
The sun pounds, it beats on our heads
We've been thirsty for days now
I almost regret my escape

We pray for the rain, for God in the same,
for magical myths when truth never came.
I ache in my skin, preach out my eyes,
I bleed on my hands, my hearts still inside
I'll die in the ground, for hell is all around

I miss the skies, it’s empty lies
The shade of blue, the remains of you
I’ll have their heads now
their faces carved out

I’ll die in the ground. For hell is all around
