The Voyager space program was created by NASA in 1977 as a way of communicating with extra-terrestrial life-forms. The Voyager spacecraft‘s cargo includes a golden phonograph record containing ”The Sounds of Earth”, as well as a phonograph to play the record. On this record are a sampling of all the sounds of our species and our planet. From Beethoven to the Beatles, From a Chimpanzee to a Tractor, It is a auditory representation of ourselves.
In September of 2006, NASA lost ability to communicate with the Voyager II Spacecraft, due to its moving outside of the range our technology will allow. Leaving it alone, drifting through the depths of space as an ambassador for our entire planet.
lyrics
Make sure you don't forget to bring everything you need.
With all that space, It keeps you awake
There are explosions everywhere.
I close my eyes. I am no longer here.
Come morning you'll forget.
the sounds of ancient music as your eyes approach the record...
your ears will hear its birth and its yours if you can use it.
I never thought that I would leave.
I'm not coming back.
forgotten words brought destiny.
It's you and me
It’s you or me
I will remain useless, floating along.
There's enough darkness here to hang my headstone away.
